When your ship comes in

Slow and steady wins the race, and I never had any doubt that this day would come. In the ol’ e-mail inbox this evening, a message from the Ford Foundation:

The Board of Ford Foundation would like to notify you that you have been
chosen by the board of trustees as one of the final recipients of a cash
Grant/Donation of the sum of 1,000,000,00 (One Million Great British Pound
Sterlings)Ford Foundation, a Multi-Million group with support from the
United Nations Organization (UNO) and the European Union (EU) as one of
the final recipients of a cash Grant/Donation.

For claims of your Grant/Donation contact The Ford Foundation:
( fordfoundation12@yahoo.cn ) with your full Bio Data and contacts.

Wow. And what a statement about the overextended nature of the internet these days, when even as august a body as the Ford Foundation can only acquire an e-mail moniker like fordfoundation12 at Yahoo.cn; i.e. the Chinese version of Yahoo. And at least eleven other Ford Foundations have beaten them to that prized address!

I think I’ll let them keep a hundred dollars or so of that grant, so that they can get an AOL account, or something else that’s somewhat respectable. Now excuse me as I put together my full Bio Data and contacts.

Just to reassure: My new-found wealth will have no impact on my blogging at all — unless (which I cannot honestly predict) it should turn me into a limousine liberal.
